August

I've been praying Dick Eastman's "The Hour that Changes the World" and one section is "Waiting on the Lord." We have done a lot of waiting since we moved to Sumy, but we are seeing that God is beginning to open the doors we've been praying for since we've been here. These have been encouraging times for us.

We've been spending more time with people from church. We've had some people over and have visited in their homes. There's a couple we've been seeing about every week outside of church-meetings. We even went to their garden and took home some potatoes, corn, and beets.

At church, we've kept the five points in front of us that Tim drew out of the church during our meeting with him (see previous post). One of the things that has come from that is a new push to continue the children's Bible study time that was once a solid ministry. Here's the flyer for it that Nina and I have worked on together-- with the final graphic design help from Shauna Jarvis from Valdosta:

We've visited with some girls from California who are here working with orphans whose plan is to develop into a transition ministry. We're making plans to invite the kids to the church building for fellowship.

Some other community connections that we've made were with the Peace Corps volunteers who we share a post office box with (long story). They are well connected with people in ways that we wished we were! They have introduced us to many people whose lives are dedicated to service in this community. We're cultivating those relationships to see where God can lead them.
